I still need a new rack.
I bought a Buzz rack e hornet 3 but sent back without fitting as I wasn't keen on wheel wells, they seemed too wide and the wheels moved. Added to that the actual frame was huge! So storage would be a pain.
One of my big issues is spacing between bikes to stop them rubbing together.
All in, the best I'm finding is the Atera genio pro ? That has 21cm spacing and folds nicely.
The Atera STRADA E-bike M has great spacing but doesn't fold so is bulky.
I worry a little about leaving racks on car when at centers so like to throw it in the car ideally.
Anything I've missed?
How do people feel about leaving £400-500 worth of racks on the back of their car when at locations ?
Mine locks on, never worried about it. I am more concerned about whether it works and how frustrating it is trying to keep the rear lights functioning (Atera Evo owner) which they don't !!!
What's the reason they stop working mate ? My old Thule just got a new light-board, but it had been bashed, battered and abuse for a decade.
When we had on I had no worries about leaving the rack on, it was locked to the tow bar. The bigger concern was leaving 4 bikes at any time on it. Even when locked on they were very rarely left unless we could reverse into something. Solved it all by getting the Tourneo.
Still got the rack, just incase someone may need to borrow it.
yeah leaving the bikes unattended on the rack doesn't happen and won't happen with this one either, but i do like the fact it has both the rack lock and bike lock on the newer models.

Really crap light design ! The main bulbs (brake / main rear) are push in, so wiggle loose within miles / first bump. Bending the contacts out gives a few extra miles. One bulb shorted with contact and melted the plastic surround. As I had bought it from Amazon, Atera wouldn't support it, as it wasn't bought from the UK dealer.
I more or less leave it on the car as I only use the car for going mountain biking. I have been looking at a new one for a while. Can't make up my mind whether to go for a 2 bike rack and get an extension rail for when we go out as a family / on holiday (about twice a year) or squeeze the 3rd on the roof next to a canoe.
I've had two Atera racks and never had a problem* with either of them.
I only swapped to the second one as the original was to short for transporting two Geometrons.
Currently have the Ebike ML.
Fits the monster long bikes with room to spare and also copes with the weight of two Kenevo's.
I worry about it being stolen about as much as I worry about the wheels on the car being stolen.
So like the wheels I leave it on the outside of the car.
* One blown bulb in well over 10 years.
And you're OK clamping bikes with the claw type fastening ? Even carbon ?
They're wrap round strap type clamps on both the racks I've had.
I'd not be riding a bike that I though would get damaged just by putting it on a bike rack.
Only ever used the Thule claw like clamps and never had a problem clamping onto carbon.
Is anyone able to explain the various option/differences of the current Atera range? Specifically something that can carry 2 emtbs
