Planning a build of some WTB i35 rims on Shimano hubs.
The i35s are asymmetrical - i.e. spoke eyelet is positioned towards one side of the rim (for all holes). Roughly 5mm off-centre I guess
I cant work out how to compensate for the asymmetry on the DT Swiss site. The spoke lengths for F&R come out at 292/293mm for both sides of both hubs assuming symmetrical rim.
I have enough 291/293/294 spokes to cover 64x. Shall I just crack on with those and use my longer spokes on the side that the asymmetry would require? The extra mm or so should sit OK in the rim cavity.
You account for it with the flange offsets, adding the distance the rim is asymmetric by to the "near" measurement (disc front/drive rear) and minusing it off the "far" measurement (drive front/disc rear). Hope this helps.
ah, so I make an adjustment to the flange distances as if the rim was mounted off the centre line. got it, cheers.
cheers clubby will do that as a check, once Ive finished carrying the ones and run it all back through the DT swiss
DT Swiss brings the spoke lengths to 293mm (rounded) for both sides of both hubs after adjusting for the 4mm offset.
Musson's calculator seems to come up 1mm shorter on all sides, possible down to spoke hole allowance in the flange. But otherwise still 292/293mm.
So my stash of odds 'n' ends spokes (24x 291mm, 21x 293mm and 35x 294mm) will be fine for this build.
cheers gents

4.5mm btw. You'd probably be fine just punching in 5 though
