I am about to buy an ass saver rear mudflap as I really like the flexibility of just tucking it away under the saddle when not needed.

Which is the best size for a MTB (regular or wide)? Anyone got any pictures of theirs fitted?

Also looked at the mucky nutz fender but didn't look like this tucked away.

Thats cool, I had read loads of positive reviews, how come you didnt get on with it? I appreciate its not going to do the job of a full on mudguard but like the fact its just subtle and can be folded away when not in use.

Have one on the road bike and its good but a bit useless on a MTB fraid. Most of the time you are going fast on a MTB you will be standing in the pedals - possible with the saddle dropped too so it won't have much effect :o(

fyi - this is from experience - i tried a makeshift one made from a milk bottle and it didn't stop the mud

I wanted to get on with it as it's a neat idea, unfortunately on a rigid 29er it didn't actually seem to do anything to stop the mud from splattering either the bike or my arse..
It's too far away from the wheel to work I think..

mine has been moved over to the road bike due to it making no difference at all on the MTB.
It'll be replaced on the road bike with fixed fenders come winter as well

To be fair to the OP, if your arse was as wide as khani's, you'd need more than a silly little flap of plastic to remain splatter free too 😆

Edit- I concur tho they are useless!

My old regular size ass saver works ok on my cross bike but no use on my MTB.

Fairly good on a road bike, rubbish on an MTB.

two curly wurlys taped together would make a better ass saver than a wide ass saver thiking about it!

got one on the roady - its ok but not as good as proper guards, especially in windy days when the spray is blown all over your back.
my roadie cannot take rear guards (at least none that i can find that fit) so i moved on to a clip on sks type.

Glad I started this thread! May go for the Crud Racepac instead.

It's designed to keep spray off ur ass in a shower while commuting, it'll stop ur Arse crack getting wet up to a point but wide mtb tyres & lots of mud will defeat it. If you accept its limits they are great, very good on a road bike

Mudhuggers are great though & don't interfere with droppers
