Was considering going to either of these on sunday (after a day in Cwmcarn planned for tomorrow).

Have there been any recent reviews/overviews of this in the magazines recently? My little nephews got loads of back issues of ST/MBR/MBUK/MBR so he may have a copy.

Any other good sources of information?

there'll be a few opinons on this forum

never done Aston Hill

going to Ashton Court in a couple of hours, its got puddles in places but generally quick, grippy and has some good jumps and a few technical sections, is pretty flat - it'll be a let down after Cwm Carn but is a very good ride and for a city trail is amazing

Ashton Court was reviewed in whichever magazine has the "wrecking crew" (MBUK?). I bought a copy before a flight on 8th Oct if that helps work out which one it would be.

What type of bikes will you have with you? Ashton Court is local to me so I ride it a lot, it's all man made new trails which drain well and are good fun. Aston Hill XC is a bit rootier/natural, even more fun.

If you're looking for DH, then definately Aston Hill.

I've ridden both recently, and Aston Hill is more my type of riding, despite it being 2 hours from me.

Aston Hill might be a good bet for this weekend as it's been pretty dry down south lately and it's more than a bit slippy in the wet.

Long way from Cwmcarn though isn't it? The tracks are great but I wouldn't drive a lot longer than an hour to get there.

So we all will have 160mm travel bikes accept for one of us who will be on something slightly smaller. Maybe a but overkill for Ashton Court perhaps? But would be nice to have the choice and make the call based on how broken we feel after saturday 🙂

"Maybe a but overkill for Ashton Court perhaps?"

Short travel fork, easy to sprint and jump HT's with fast tyres are the ideal IMO. Something like a 4X bike with a long seatpost

160mm bikes at Ashton Court will be boring and it's pretty short if the adjacent Leigh Woods isn't officially open yet. I prefer to ride a rigid bike there over my 140mm fs.
