Not sure if this has already been posted.

Looks like a new business setup from some of the CRC, Nukeproof and Vitus people.

Selling dropper posts, levers and Nukeproof spares.

I've had great dealings with them so far, when they were just a Facebook/ebay store, and would definitely use them again in the future. Good luck to them!

I got a seatpost from them, it's good quality and very well priced. Would recommend.

That's very useful to know. I spotted them couple of weeks ago and meant to share here - the Brand X droppers are still my favourite (outside of a OneUp at a totally different price point).

Good luck to them. Just wish they'd do the horizon clipless pedals and spares

Looks like a very promising little business, best of luck to them.

Did you ask them?

Bought a new freehub from them for a Nukeproof Horizon V2 wheelset. Brilliant all round really and hope they do well.

Funnily enough the Google App on my phone picked up an MBR article about them - https://www.mbr.co.uk/news/two-former-wiggle-chain-reaction-cycles-bosses-launch-new-components-brand-ascend-components-447191

It's good to know too that there's still someone manufacturing and selling Nukeproof, Vitus & Ragley spares as quite a few of us got a little over-excited in the Chiggle sale.

That's great, good folks who made good affordable products, glad they've found their feet again, hope hey make a go of it. Good that folks can get spares too.

Wonder if big Mike will try and shut them down or want a percentage.

Yeah. In December.

Did they give a flat "no"?

I saw they were planning flat pedals and thought clips would be an obvious next step.

Those NP clip pedals filled an obvious gap in the market.

Going in there with ultra low pricing to start with a jump? - they are making relative pennies at those prices so I imagine there will be a bit of an increase once their name is out there, that or they plan on selling at CRC quantities.

Will be good to see the Nukeproof pedal back.

No, but they did answer in a rather clipped manner.

Oh yay! They sell the Scout derailleur hanger which is a perfect fit for my Orange Crush.

Not only do I need one but it's half the price of a 'real' one too. They were out of stock on CRC for a while so I'm glad they're back.

Sweet, needed a new dropper as my new frame needs a short insertion!! Thought I'd have to stump up for a one up, but their flight SL is only 5mm longer and £100 cheaper!! For the 150mm version anyway.

Agree - I've used them for a good 5 or 6+ years now and they're brilliant. Tried Burgtecs and they're nowhere near as good...

You may be in luck about those pedals after all:

Excellent if they do.  I have 2x CS and 1xCL.

One of the sets of CS is relatively new but the bindings on the others are wearing out.  I have a replacement set of bindings, but once I've used that there's no more.

Wish I'd bought more bindings and pedals when they were in the fire sale.

Nukeproof just got bought by Belgian Cycling Factory and they said they’ve employed some of the Nukeproof team as well.

Strange choice to close the " Nukeproof are back" thread, Ascend are separate from Nukeproof, a separate thread was valid.

I thought that - and not just because I started the other thread lol

Both separate entities with no connection what so ever.

Makes life a bit more difficult for Ascend Components going forward too, I would expect.

The Report link is still active on the closed Nukeproof thread. If you click on it does it just flag it for attention or could you leave a note explaining the issue?

I guess seatposts are gonna be their big seller anyway, and I imagine they'll do a better job of offering the NP and Vitus spare parts than Frasers or BCF will.

If they're selling old stock acquired from CRC for that stuff, it's probably legit eh?

I suppose Ascend are Brand X really though, I know they are selling Nukeproof spares but are they just parts the bought in the fire sale or do they have rights to get them manufactured? If they make pedals and other components under the Ascend brand then they'll be judged on price and quality. Maybe Nukeproof are not going to make all the components they used to and stick with frames??...

Correct. I swapped from the Horizons to Deftraps but kept the Horizons for another bike. Any time I went back to them they felt oddly small and tall

I hope so and that they start bringing back all the other components that use to be brandx.

Be great to see dhb continuing & being developed too. That almost sits better with sports direct/evans given they tend to focus on clothing but, if it sits with them, I doubt they'll do anything with it aside churning through the old stock

Bit of a tangent, but cycling apparel is one of those product areas that really doesn't need updating each year IMO.

I have 10 year+ old DHB bibs that would still be perfectly viable as products now.

So Frasers could keep churning out the same clobber that Chiggle were selling, by just ordering more from the factories.

Ditto with the Nukeproof clothing, wherever that sits now.

If they make pedals and other components under the Ascend brand then they'll be judged on price and quality.

I'd be surprised if they previously had separate product designers / buyers buying the components to be branded nuke proof vs Brand-X or Prime, etc.  Whether Nukeproof continue to make pedals or not, I suspect it's Ascend that know which factories have the molds.

+1, I've got decade old DHB winter longs that are far higher quality than some other brands in the same price points. Half the cycling club seem to use them (the other half evenly split between rapha, lecol, endura, castelli etc).

The only reason for them not to survive would be because the buyers would have to justify to Frasers management when they are procuring what are probably expensive materials and garments for an unknown brand (that has always been about value, it's not like they're a brand name like Rapha even if they were just as good) and selling at a slim margin where the accountants would be looking at how much they probably pay for the MuddyFox bib shorts in the sale bin at SD with better margins.

Good to know cheers!

My oldest Brand X dropper is a bit slow to return and will need a new cartridge soon. I missed my chance when the cartridges were being sold off for peanuts 🙁

Ive got one of the Ascend droppers (bought in error #stealthad) that is adjustable travel tool free down to 125mm in 5mm increments, looks far better quality than the brand x ascend tbh! Just don't need a 150mm dropper thats 31.6, i actually need the same drop but 30.9!!

That will teach me to unbox things without checking and chuck the packaging in the recylcing on collection day!!

The adaptV1 to looks reminiscent of the OneUP dropper in terms of low stack and adjustability. Currently have a 170mm brandx in a V1 AM9 Bird Aeris. Looks like I could squeeze an additional 15mm drop with the adaptV1, if I thought that 15mm would make all the difference, lol.

But it's nice know I can get spares for my current dropper.

I did a few calcs and I think the Ascend one was a few mm longer than the OneUp in terms of stack. Certainly a credible alternative.
