I remember reading an article on riding up north on a classic hiking trail in Sweden. Trekking through bogs and staying in huts and stuff. Anyone recall what issue it was in, if it was even in Singletrack at all? Can't find it.

Don't do it if you ask me. I tried it around 5 years ago starting from the top end and bailed after a couple of days. It really is a hiking trail, lots of unrideable rocky (at least with a bikepacking set up) and boggy sections

You've just missed the Cabin Fever 600, literally last weekend. There's a thread and writeup pending on Bearbones Bikepacking as someone from there did it. Seems it was a good do.

yes exactly as blacka01 says. That is the problem with a great deal of the cycling trails (and to a lesser extent walking trails) here. I think there must be some sort of ideal number of users for a trail to be in decent shape but not busy, and Sweden doesn't have enough people using them to make them decent options.

I live in Jämtland, and when the conditions are right  St Olvsleden can be fantastic, Jämtlands triangle, Storulvån and so on are great. But, if conditions are wrong, they can be really really tough.

Not about the article mentioned per se, but Sweden is great for gravel bike packing/touring.

I did a tour a few years ago around the SW, starting at Gothenburg and going around the 2 massive lakes north of there (Vannern and Vattern).

Amazing countryside, lovely people, hardly any traffic, miles of gravelly back roads ensconced in forest, and lakes big and small every few miles.

I did about 50/50 wild camping and campsites.

Campsites were well priced, spotless, and generally really quiet. You can wild camp almost anywhere, and I found some lovely secluded spots.
