Arran end to enduro route experience?

Planning to do the Arran end to enduro route nearly May and I was wondering whether anyone has experience of the route and what the trail us like? Looking at OS Maps, it looks like the majority us double track, but I've been fooled by that before.

I'm planning to use my low power ebike and it should be OK to do 31 miles and 1200m of climbing the route seems to take. I am thinking about sticking some lightweight tyres (forekaster front, minion ss rear) to help with range but don't want to get stuck in the place of having way too little tread for the conditions.

Any advice out there? IMG-20250305-WA0000(1).jpg

Disclaimer. Old (2016ish)and incomplete and hopefully inaccurate experience.. Suggest contacting locals direct. Posted as no other posts.

Bottom 2/3 (maybe 3/4) I believe will be fine (I remember most of it as forestry road/farm type double tracks), think the top bit was iless well defined,   but when me and mrs walked the top end coast path (round edge not marked route) when we did the valley of the rocks bit, which seems to be on the route,  ( and we were on the official path as the officials were there painting route markers at the time the mrs (*4ft 10 pensioner with short legs and a not great back) had to be manhandled down boulder sized steps that were so big I had to bend my leg for her to make a midway foothold while the route marking lads passed her down to me and we did some beach and seaweed scrambling so I strongly hope that isn’t the route or that it’s been massively improved since we were there. I’d deffo check with locals.

also mrs had to have 9 (nine) ticks removed from her after that walk, so suggest full coverage and tick tweezers.

theres a 'Rusty Rides Gravel' video on YouTube that seems to follow your route

Local here.

There's an update to that route just put up on the Arran Bike Club's Facebook page a couple of days ago. It's much more up to date, just having been ridden in the last fortnight.

You should be fine on your bike, and those tyres. I do know someone rode the northern section on a gravel bike and survived, the southern part formed a large part of the Grinduro gravel race so that's should be ok for you.

The climb out of Lochranza is a bit technical in parts, but very doable on an E bike and it's all ridable. After that there's bits of everything really. Climbs, beach side paths, forestry, singletrack, big but excellent day out.

If range is an issue there's plenty of place to bail. Just doing the section between Brodick and Lochranza is a good ride in itself.

Let me know how you get on

Thanks all. That's pretty reassuring on the latest info. Sounds all good then. I tried my bike with turned down assistance the other day and did about 17 miles with 500m of climbing with about 30% battery used, so should be all good on lighter tyres.

I notice that the lower part of the route in Arran is a bit different on the Facebook page for the Arran bike club @crewlie. Would you recommend using the "new" route?

There are three new files added today, for the north, mid and south sections of the route.

Use the new routes, the old ones have been changed by storms and forestry work.
