I never really subscribe to this summer/winter/which tyre is best for Surrey caper but fitted a Bonty Mud and went out last night.

Crikey, its like cornering on rails, well done Keith.

Mine are still in the garage but they were jolly good last year.

heh, glad to see youve seen the light of changing tyres. theyre the biggest difference you can make when the seasons change.

Never tried them. I love the Maxxis and Panaracer ones though.

Depends on the mud! Great round here, but I am not sure I would recommend them to someone who lives where i've never ridden.

Conversely, trailrakers are allegedly also excellent tyres, but they didn't get on at all well with same woods and mud I razz round happily in on mud x's.

They are good, wish they would make a slightly wider one for up front, looks plain wrong whilst riding!

Prefer a skinny medusa upfront for the proper mud which has appeared this week. Mudx on the rear. Great setup

I found the big earl 'wet' 2.5" was a bit like a bigger and even heavier mud x, but they don't seem to make them any more. Tore a big hole in my 2nd to last one the other week too 🙁

{edit}

Actually scratch that, you can still get them, and in 2.35" as well, but for about £35 an end. (you can get usually get mud x's for £40 a pair if you shop around)

Agree with them 'looking wrong'... i bought for the 29er in 2.0

They look like kids tyres

wider mud-x = Swampthing 42a 2.35"

have 2" Mud-x on front and back at the mo, but once it gets a bit more muddy I'll put a Swampthing on the front, massive difference in greasy off camber bits IMO

I have a pair of Dirty Dans on their way - at 450g a pop (2.0), tubeless ready and 19.99 from on one, worth a go I guess!

Mud Xs are great. Have had them on the singlespeed more or less permanently for about 2 years now!
