Can anybody help with public water taps on or near the new King Alfred's Way route please?

The official route is not out yet so being bored at home, I've plotted my own edit of it (sticking close to the info I had) and want to locate taps in this area so I can ride this once lockdown is done..... I've been going stir-crazy on the turbo trainer since 15th March and want to do a decent ride!

The route goes west of Pewsey, crosses the A342 near Marden, through Enford, Larkhill, Upper Woodford, then down to Old Sarum.

If there is anybody who knows the area and can assist, I'll send a gpx of the route to you of the exact route.

Many thanks

Rob

I'm from Salisbury and know the south of your route pretty well.
I'm afraid I don't know of any public taps in the SDW style.
Amesbury has a petrol station, as does Pewsey.
When I'm touring I look in churchyards, usually outside taps for watering flowers etc. Failing that, I've never had a request for a water bottle fill turned down if I spot someone out in their garden. Might be different after this though.

I’m in Amesbury, as lesshaste has said , I also don’t know of any public taps as per SDW. Churchyards is a great idea, there’s one in Amesbury, st Mary and st Melor. Also shops along the route if you have a lock with you. Would be interested to have the route if you can post?

I know the northern part of that very well. As above, not going to find 'formal' taps a la Ridgeway but plenty of shops, pubs etc.

Favourite spots to top up include The Swan in Enford and Stonehenge Ales in Netheravon. 😀

I grew up in Bulford, just east of Larkhill through Durrington. Used to get water when playing tennis from a mains tap in the cemetery in Old Coach Road. Just by the gate. Then it's just a quick pedal over the hill to Amesbury.

Brilliant - thanks everybody.

The plan so far is to roll from Buriton at around 0900 - this is the closest part of the route to home, and that should put me at the tap on the Ridgeway between 1900 and 2145. The section down to Sarum will be in the dark so if I can pinpoint the taps before I start it would be awesome.
