Obviously they're no brand Chinese carbon forks so they could be anything between instant death and bloody fantastic at thrice the price but, that aside, I'm finding this challenging...

I'm aware lawyer tabs were added due to the "self ejection" of a qr disc wheel or two. I know personally where I think the majority of the negligence there lies so I'm not too worried about the tabs being there or not and given the risk I'd be accepting by flitting the forks any hits I'll gamble my face a bit further.

The "risk" I'm not entirely comfortable with is that looking at the image I can't avoid the feeling the dropouts are the wrong way around so changing the chance of the wheel being spat out from "I don't think it'll happen to me" to "I'm fairly sure that's going to happen".

What is the wisdom of STW? Wrong direction for the dropouts or the way they should be?

God knows, I just copied the link from post image, variously about 6 of them since I couldn't remember which was the right one.

To the real question - the more I look at them the less I think I'd want to ride them. Got good dental cover? 😐

No but I've a "mate" who I could loan the bike too for a few weeks, serve him right circle never buying a round...

Yeah I sort of am too, my thought process, limited as it is, is they'd replace the sids currently on the bike for about a week, at which point I'd have decided it was a waste of money and I'll put the sids back on because I hate them, or I'll decide it was a waste of money and I'll buy something similar but with a bit of QC at least as I liked them.

Really I just want something which present a chance of death noticeably below 1 in that first week or two.

That label says Toser. Says it all.

Strictly for steps?

THeyre “Toseek” branded forks aren’t they? I had some Toseek full carbon 29er rigid forks for a couple of years, never gave me any problems. Initial caution soon wore off and I gave them plenty of abuse. Sold them on when I split the bike up.
Those dropouts face the same way as the ones on my GT Grade, neither right nor wrong imo?

All their forks have dropouts like that - they're just vertical when the fork is in situ, aren't they?

That would make sense. They just look wrong in the image but now you've said that yes vertical is likely.

Hmmmm how much do I like my face.

Oh on a closely linked aside.. . Anyone know what tyre clearance is like on the Tripster forks?

I put some disc mounts on a PRoject II back in teh day, with no lawyer tabs, worked fine with teh QR done up (and not fine when it wasn't as I found out).

As a point of information, lawyer lips were added because people thought you used QR skewers the same way as you do through axles. They didn’t do them up tight enough. They predate disc brakes by a couple of decades.

Back to the forks. If they are established own brand I probably would. Where are reports of all these failing forks. I run Hilux 29er carbon forks and never give them a moments thought. Other than the graphics are a bit loud.

Ever seen someone pull a wheelie and end up riding a unicycle?

Hilarious to watch.

Yes, i have.
Not as funny as watching someone go over a ramp on a bike and land on a unicycle though.
Guy I worked with, brand new bike, he had a puncture earlier in the day, went over a ramp and the front wheel parted company.
531 forks bent a little, but we managed to straighten them by hand.
Now, neither of us were exactly weaklings, but I don’t want to ride a fork that weak, neither did my mate, the bike got sold a few days later.
