Has anyone cut them open or had the misfortune to see the cross section unintentionally?
I'm looking at dabbling with super short cranks and as I have SLX cranks already, they look ideal to drill and tap further down the arm. From rough measurements this would give about a 150mm length. I would consider getting steel inserts too as I've noticed some models of SLX have them.

Not so much but exactly the info I needed. Cheers.
Zee's aren't hollow if you're after something to modify.
Good call DD
Zee are also heavy, Deore is lighter and is not hollow.
I've got some old XT like the ones in the link it they will do. Just have shimano written on them as they are of a specialized.
