Obviously the answer is "yes" so perhaps more specifically, if I replace the bearings in my Cane Creak step-down headset will I get another couple of years use out of it? I've just had to tighten it up so much in order to 'Stop the Rock' that the bars are getting a little tight to turn.
I have lower end 10 series Cane Creek headsets in two bikes currently and the bearings did wear out quite quickly though this might have been caused by over tightening on my part. They did offer higher grade replacements a while back, might be worth checking their website.
I bought some new bearings for cane creek headset off a guy on ebay that sold lots of head set bearings. They were pretty cheap and kept things going till i bit the bullet and bought a Hope headset.

Ooh NCB, that looks like just the ticket.
Now all I need to do is work up the energy to dismantle the front of the GFs bike to measure the bearings...
We sell lots of replacement bearings for various headsets. If in doubt give us a call at BETD or check our website out.
