I have so far ridden my Fazua gravel bike on roads and dry easy gravel. With winter coming I am wondering how resilient the motors are when ridden in British conditions.Any experience using Fazua motors in wet and muddy trails?
Great question
I reckon it depends if you're lucky. I've had a few motor issues (two replacements under warranty). Water ingress doesn't seem to have been the underlying problem either time. I've ridden my ebike through some slop and in all weathers though.
I’ve commuted for two years on mine rain or shine. I do have full length mudguards that keep the spray off the downtube, but for about three months I had to navigate a flooded section where the water was almost up to the BB (had to ratchet through it). No issues.
It’s out of warranty now so if anything dies I’ll have to pay to replace it, but I’m not bothered after it’s done me so well.
Like the others, I would say probably. Mine died when left on the back of the car in hours of heavy rain (parked overnight at Glenshee to watch the Tour of Britain a couple of years ago). But that was replaced under warranty, and I’ve had no issue since. I do run a front mudguard and put the blank on for transport (now). I don’t commute, but have done some wet rides.
