Trying to help a friend order brakes for his bike.
Do the brakes use a 160mm or 180mm disc at the front (by default)?
He's a bigger guy so suggested he use a 200 mm disc. I don't know if he'll need a +20 or +40 mm though.
These are the brakes I've recommended.
Thanks all
160
They are powerful, doubt you'll need to go bigger than 180 unless he's very big and rides alpine descents all day long.
He's big!
130kg+ , I'd guess.
So, ignoring your advice ( 🙂 ), he'll need a +40mm adapter for 200mm? 180mm would be fine for him, but he's used my 200mm and is keen.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm 10 stone,I use 180mm on front and TBH I could probably do with 180 on the back as I'm only using 160 at the mo,really good brakes,I've had mine a year now and still sharp, best he go 200 to be sure, won't do any worse will it.
75kg with kit 180 front 160 rear. When it is steep and wet I want more. Zee next tim. 130kg I would want zee....

Are you on Zee frosty, iff so what are they like?
I'm 90kg and ride uplift days on a HT. 180 rotors F&R with Uberbike's Race Matrix pads is an awesome combination.
Aliexpress, really? I'd go for SLX with the ceramic pistons, £86 from Ribble last time I looked, exc rotors of course.
Apparently he's 115kg... guess he must have been wearing unflattering clothes (he is a maths teacher!).
Although he enjoys riding, I don't think he'll splash the cash on Zee. 200mm and Deore / SLX seems to be a better idea.
Thanks for the replies
