My preferred riding area is towards Princes Risborough / Wendover and that tends to be not much fun to ride in the winter due to the general bogginess of the saturated clay/chalk soil.

Are there any areas that hold up better than others in the wet weather? I'm guessing they're might be some better surfaced/draining tracks dotted about the place which might provide a rideable route or two throughout the year. Or is this all just wishful thinking and I should either live with the bottomless soul sucking mud or wait until the spring?

Wishful thinking - it's all clay and chalk. Swinley or Woburn Sands are the best way to avoid the mudfest - or just embrace the bottomless gloop!

Difficult to go any distance without running into mud based misery in the current conditions. My solutions is to go out on the road bike instead.
