I have a car that came with a partially fitted towbar, just missing the swan neck. It’s a tow trust one fitted to a Passat B8. I’ve been looking at buying a buzzrack scorpion pro which states it needs an ISO 50mm towball but I can’t tell if the tow trust one that fits my setup is.

incidentally has anyone bought and used a buzzrack Scorpion pro 2 and are they are good?

Depends where you are. When I lived in the UK I was never aware of anything different however here in New Zealand we have the 50mm (metric) and a 3/4 inch imperial towball size. My bike carrier needs the Metric one whilst I have to swap them to tow the boat trailer (It’s a pain)

America uses 2", which is obviously very close to, but not close enough to 50mm so can cause problems as people dont realise. Not sure what the ISO relates to (i know what iso is, just not what it means for a tow ball). One thing to be aware of is flange vs swan neck as some fixtures need a flange type (typically bolt something to the tow ball bolts that the rack fits to) and some can do either as they clamp to the ball.

ISO 50 is what is stamped on my towball so just get one that matches that.

Metric 50mm balls have a flat bit on the top. Older imperial ones are round all over.
