is it just me and my odd clublike feet?

been on a months quest to try and find something suitable for general all round riding, commuting, bit of offroad and touring.

tried shimano m200, vice like and narrow, giro terraduro, too flat in the toe box, 2 pairs of northwave, one of which was made from some fancy silky knicker material, like some Anne Summers sexy stuff, and the other, winter franken boots that took 5 minutes to get on.
tried some retro brown leather gito one too.....felt lovely, i was missing the beard/tache combo and my sisters jeans.
oh and some of the new shimano am7 and 9. both feel like cheap plastic footy (GOLA) boots.

not all cyclist's have ballet dancers feet shoe people. please make some decent width, plain, dark colour, weatherproof, spd shoes.
it cant be all that hard surely.

Shimano DX's are comfy kind of heavy but like wearing trainers, however I dont know if they still make them. Sidi's are comfy too but I do think they need a bit of breaking in.

The Northwave vibram soled shes are quite wide fitting. Not too stiff mind but perfect for hike a bike off-road riding.
Sidi do some wider fitting shoes in a more racey-style with stiff soles.

I attempted to try SPDs when I got my first road bike. But my feet are really, really wide. I tried on about 6 million* different shoes, and could't find any that didn't hurt. I bought the very widest I could find (some Mavic wide fit MTB ones) and took the insoles out to give my feet more room. But they still were too narrow. I'm back on flats and in my 5:10's now on my road bike. Bloody wide feet.

*This is only just an exaggeration.

Lake or mavic both suit wider feet in my experience and have good build quality.

a lot of mavic shoe reviews report them being narrow?
i tried the mt91 replacement shimano (x9?) and they were pigging awful - very narrow compared to the mt91 and mt90.
have a set of lakes now. lovely. good sizing guide on their site. when old shoes wear out i can see more lakes being bought.

Shimano are narrow but I don't walk in my shoes.

You need a wide fit shoe I think it's an E size?

Northwave I think do a wide fit.

Are you a Hobbit?

I've got fairly wide, flat feet and Specialized shoes fit me really well. The lower end ones I have are the opposite of weather proof though.

Try some of the shimano wide fits. M088 are really nice but can't get them anymore in most sizes, m089 replacement is a bit bulkier but also a bit less disco slipper. I have wide feet and a high arch so this may not work for you. It's a sham e they only do the basic shoes in wide lasts.

Are you a Hobbit?

Yes. Sucks sometimes, but people don't notice me when I'm riding cheeky trails.

Ton when you were trying on the giro shoes did you try any of the HV models? These are designed for bigger wider feet.

Possibly have a look at the privateer HV shoe for a plain looking shoe
