My TT bike has what I presume is a direct mount caliper (dual pivot mounts) under the chainstays.

Its a Tektro, its wooden, underpowered, hard to get centred and hard to get the wheel out.

Can I swap it for a Shimano unit? Or could the wheel position or pivot dimensions be different? Would it be much of a performance improvement or is the lack of power and feel more likely due to poor cable routing?
