New bike with 12 speed KMC chain. I'm ordering a quick link for spares/repairs, are they all the same dimensions? There seem to be "SRAM" & "Shimano" quick links at a cheaper price than the quite expensive KMC ones, would any link fit as long as the chain speed is correct? i.e. a "SRAM" 12 speed link fits onto a KMC chain.

Yeah as long as the speed is right. Some do work with other speeds but I think with 12 speed you need 12 speed.

Just be aware that the SRAM road & new T-Type flattop chains are incompatible with MTB 12 speed chains. I think they are slightly different dimensions.

I snapped a chain on a ride in the Peak and could not locate my spare link. Fortunately there was a big group ride who had stopped and one of that crew gave me a spare link (thanks again if it was you).  My chain is 12 spd SRAM but no idea what the link was so it might be worth trying an old link on your chain to see if it will work. I replaced the chain after that ride so no idea of longevity but if you got it as a get me home then you may be good with just a link to use.
