You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
On the small possibility that the rider I 'wiped out' yesterday is on this forum I just wanted to once again apologise. On the rollers (doubles) on the new blue trail I was about 6 yards behind and I was as certain as I could be that you were going to double them up and so maintained my speed to do the same but at the last moment you shaved enough speed off to roll them and I doubled the first one, caught the back wheel and both went down.
It was entirely my mistake, making a poor judgement. I can only apologise again. I did arrange to meet you back at the car park and buy you a coffee and a cake but I couldn't find you once I'd got to the bottom. If you are on this forum let me know and I'll meet you down there again and buy you that drink.
That was last year! I'm sure he's over it by now
hmmm, no offence fervoured but this is a blue route and was designed for families, from what I am aware the "rollers" were actually put in to slow people down, not to be doubled, as part of the blue grading requires speed reduction features, the other being a lower overall gradient, hence a long route to the top of the course,
local so ride sections of this several times a weeks, it's been very busy over the last 2 weeks obviously,
pretty much every time I ride the final section I get raced by someone, last time was a 12 yo with body armour all over my back wheel, chill peeps
fair play for being honest and considerate, not something that is reflected on stw and whilst out riding with too many folk ready to slate beginners / less abled riders.
no offence fervoured
Eh?
At least he has put his hand up and said sorry. At the time and once more. Rather than, 'what did you brake for?'
I may have this wrong but I'm pretty sure that final descent is graded red, a blue grade descent has just been added hasn't it?

There is a seperate blue family trail there, as far as I'm aware the rollers are rollers because not every body will want to manual / double them. Certainly there the offical videos of trail have people doubling the rollers... The final section of the Verderer's is graded blue I think.
the Verderers trail is graded blue and was always intended to be that way, part of the funding agreement from what I am aware,
people started falling off on the final descent, so it was upgraded to red, then the trail builders were told to come back in and put in short section around some of the big sweeping berms, it's still advertised as a blue trail by 1sw,

nope, that's a green trail for families and riders of all ages, abilities and you can ride it on pretty much any bike, basically a tour of some of the attractions of the heart of the FoD,
has all the details
As I said, it was my error and it was my second run down it that day. My first run I doubled them because the two riders ahead of me doubled them. They were quite small rollers hence I thought they were designed to be doubled if you were able to and rolled if you couldn't.
I wasn't aware that there were such strict rules on how you were supposed to ride sections based on grading, particularly as the blue has some quite fast descent and a few technical sections ( I wouldn't call it entirely family friendly.
But anyway, as I said my mistake, poor judgement and tail between my legs for the afternoon. Thankfully the other rider was very friendly about it but I never got the opportunity to buy him a brew as way of apology.
(Incidentally I was slightly annoyed to come across a rider on the blue descent with his dog in tow, who stopped 4 times leaving his owner to merrily continue along whistling him as I had to stop dead each time to avoid running over his collie - that can't be acceptable surely?!)
I wouldn't worry. It was obvious that it was going to be fast when it was being build. It just runs that way , you have to hold back not to pile into the next whoop. Just rolling through with no brakes means that you end up with 1 and a half whoops. I have wondered what would happen to my carbon CX forks if I do that. Haven't tried to double them on that bike yet! :lol:Careless to clip some one you don't know but as he was cool and you are contrite all is well. Just don't do it to a kiddy on a tag along.
there's no way those rollers are designed to slow you down, i seem to pic up speed just rolling them unless i hit the brakes
waas there today and the carpark was 1/4 full, we had the trails to ourselves, great start to 2012
It's always risky assuming the rider in front will so what you wish they so often don't.
The thing with that last bit of the trail expect anything.I passed a guy running around the trail with his little lad went of to do some other trails.Came hammering around to those rollers found little lad stopped in middle of them guy on top of one dog in the other shit my self. Then another time guy just stopped in front of me when he caught up to his mate!!!gets very hairy on there.Never had any problems on the downhill runs or the Dowies will stick to them.
met up for a group ride this morning, one of the fellas leisurely rode over through sallow vallets and someone ploughed into him on the verderers, had his head down and wasn't looking,
Only had one run there, I also nearly squished a chap on a green Orange 5,s dog. It kept randomly jumping on and off trail. This was mid sat afternoon, would have thought common sense would prevail..
lol lessons to be learned!!
Never assume the guy in front will do anything predictable
Only chase your mates down the trail racing/hassling randoms is only for people who are under-equipped elsewhere
