My current GP4000's need replacing on my nice road bike and quite fancy trying something different as I've only ever used GP's.
So what should I be looking at for about £30-40 each?
If you don't mind them wearing out a bit faster than the 4000s2 then Spesh S-works turbo are really nice.
I thought the Spesh turbo cotton 26 were faster than the 4000s11
but I’ve gone back to tubless on both road bikes and am now living the puncture free dream again.
@orangeboy, what tubeless road tyres are you using?
I wish gp4k came in tubeless skinwall. They'd clean up even more than I'm sure they already do.
Schwalbe Ones with latex tubes are a lovely ride. Vittoria Corsa G+ equally so. Vittoria Corsa Speed are breathtakingly fast, but only for the brave. I run these tubeless on the TT bike
I’ve never ridden GP4k, but I also run a set of GP4 Seasons. Not a huge fan, to be honest. Other tyres in the TiRed stable are a set of Rubinos (solid training tyre but feel slow), and some G One Speeds. The latter are tubeless, and didn’t seal on the long ride home on Tuesday. Still love the ride though.
Ive run Vittoria Paves all season, again with latex tubes, and this is a lovely option too, not tried the replacement yet. G One Speeds are not yet worn enough!
I like my Schwalbe Ones for their ride quality and balance of speed and grip. Wear rate isn’t so great but I’m a fair weather rider and favour ride quality over durability.
The Schwalbe's and Spesh both look good. If going for the Schwalbe's, which ones are the best for use with a tube?
My GP4000’s needed replacing on my nice road bike too but I couldn't put anything else on other than a fresh set of the same.
Fabulous tyres,
I use schwalbe pro ones set up tubeless, they work well for me. Seem to roll nicely.
Got a puncture during a 100 miler last year, but didnt notice at the time, only noticed a few days later when the front had slowly gone down. Just added a bit more stans fluid, sloshed it around and the puncture was fixed.
