Anything else worth looking at as an alternative to the DT XRC 1501 for similar money?

Anything lighter without spending a lot more?

< anecdote>
DTSwiss refused to warranty my cracked XMC 1501s as they said I'd hit a rock and that wasn't covered. So be cautious if you're planning to use the bike off road.

My xrc 1200's took an absolute battering on my squamish/Whistler trail bike before the days of inserts but still 20 psi range. They're on the kids xc bike now and no issues aside from front bearing replacement.

I destroyed a synchros rim on ride 2... Turns out my lezyne pump was lying and 20psi was more like 14. Repaired those and still going strong. Would happily get their Revelstoke 1.0

Ditto qwerty for £1150.00 they are a steel in the carbon wheeled world. At 1450g Dt Swiss hubs n spokes and the fantastic roval Carbon rims there is nothing else like them for the money

Looks like there are a few versions of the Roval 29s. One with what looks like DT350 hubs and one with something different and claiming to weigh 1250g. Can't seem to find any in stock though.

@mjsmke

There's the Control SL with 240 hubs that weighs in around 1200g and costs around £2000, and there's the Control with 350 hubs weighing in around 1450g and cost around £1150, rims are the same on both as far as I'm aware and their selling point is a wide rim edge (4mm or similar) to avoid tyre damage if you attempt to pinch flat it.

I don't own them, my budget only stretched to aluminium but they'd be my go to carbon wheelset 👌🏻

Damn I'm too late. Just went to buy a set from Sigmasports and they're sold out.

Anyone know anywhere else I can buy a set of Roval Contols?

Due into our supplier by 25/04/2023

Looks like a bit of a wait, unless you throw an additional £1000 at the SL's !!!

A wee bit heavier but a chunk cheaper. Bontrager Kovee elite 30. They come in bang on claimed weight of 1585g the pair (if you take out the super chunky rim strip of 60g a wheel and use tape instead!).

I got for under £700 new and think I saw a new pair on classifieds recently for less. Sale nothing to do with me.

I’m only a few rides in on mine so can’t comment on longevity but seem decent. Proper warranty too.

Can't help you on where to buy a set but I've been running Roval Carbon Control wheels on my Transition Spur for over a year now, touch wood, I haven't had a single issue. Would definitely recommend waiting for them to come back in stock somewhere.

I've got those roval and agree they're awesome. But for near half the price I'd be getting those bontrager in the classifieds. Although it would help to know whether the warranty would apply.

Just reading a review on the Kovee Elites and it said not as light as some aluminium alternatives.

Id be happy with aluminium if they're lighter. I'm well bellow any weight limit for wheels anyway so they don't need to be too burly.

Out the box the kovees nowhere near claimed weight and I’d agree not much lighter than Alu options. I almost sent mine back.

On closer inspection the heavy duty tubeless rim strip that is factory fitted is the culprit. 60g each wheel compared to 5-10g of a wrap of tubeless tape. Daft they install such a heavy thing when most wheel sets come with only tape and it’s proven to work fine. I can confirm 1585g pair for Kovee elites if run with tape instead.
