Very dodgy indeed (yet people still bid???).

He's sold around 5 bikes (and assorted bits) since December and he's always asking for cash on collection.

Fence and/or thief - and why can't these people ever spell - don't they ever read their descriptions before they post them up?

I have never seen anything like that in my life. That should be a crime in itself.

Second count I got 11.

Not including the one above the stem. Glad he put that one there, otherwise it might look a bit daft.

Did the seller cobble this together himself? Otherwise surely someone must recognise it (if it was stolen)?

But then the buyer said: "A gentleman seller who was very fair with me. Thank you. :)"

So maybe we are mistaken.

eBay just need to automatically block all auctions that have "here we have" in the opening sentence. Job done.

this guy has cropped up on here before somebody asked the question before when he was selling that orange five in grey in his history....

hes clearly selling stolen goods, whether they are stolen by him knows, the bikes (the orange five had clearly been debadged) and possible stripped of paint...

he also says he knows the frame number has been etched/filed off, yet hes not bothered by it?!?! not a genuine cyclist then is it? if he had any decency he would let the police know...the fact he lives in manchester and it says he swapped it with a guy in leeds?!?!?!

this guy sounds like the ultimate theif/scum, selling loads of stuff thats clearly nicked from sheds/garages like the hedge trimmers and the likes...

how on earth does he get away with it? he hasnt bought anything remotely cycle like yet hes always got cycles for sale?!

somebody who knows how should report it to ebay at least...

Never mind reporting it to eBay - we all know how bothered they are, and he can just start a new account five minutes later with no trail of suspicousness.

Does anyone know a copper that would actually be interested? I know that any of them should be, but that doesn't seem to be the reality, does it?

I became suspicious as soon as I saw the Stumpjumper leaning against a van that had "Trotters Independent Trading" on the side

Should have put the spacers on top of the stem, you could then store at least two bagels there for lunch when out on long rides - win!

Nah, they'd bounce off on the bumpy bits.

Much better to secure them under the stem until it's lunch time.

Yeah but you'd have to take the stem off (or take the bars off the stem) in order to put the bagels in situ. If you put them on the top then it would be easier to load but yes you would need some kind of securing mechanism to stop unwanted bagel ejection.

I'll have to think some more into that one.

Two bagels for lunch and a ring donut for afters?

Seriously that is the rankest of Ebay sellers. He is almost admitting it is nicked so people with morels won’t bother. The problem is that if the frame has no markings to associate it with a known stolen bike the police can do nothing! It makes my piss boil!

In one of his posts he says "no time wasters ova sea bidders."

No overseas bidders? Yeah, you wouldn't want to get scammed or anything...

Genius, I'd overlooked the ring donut.

sold loads of bits as a clump sale too, wheels with brakes, forks with brakes....clearly stripped the bike and sold the bits he knows he cant get traced on, and still make 300quid 🙁

really is the most obvious tealeaf ive seen on ebay....it sounds like he may actually ride them too, but it doesnt negate the fact that hes either pushing on stolen goods or the culprit himself, either way hes as dodgy as they come...

his premises must be riddled with stolen property....

scumbag

You know what that looks like? He's swapped the forks round from something else stolen, it's a common trick to try to disguise a bike. A thief may nick dozens of bikes but before selling them, he'll swap a few bits round - wheels are generally the easiest but forks, stem, saddle etc are all fair game. If done well, it just helps cover it up a little bit - someone may have circulated a description of their stolen bike: [brand x] with Fox forks blah blah but it then comes up on ebay with some RockShox on, much more difficult to prove anything.

Talking of cobbled together stolen bikes, reminds me of this. Spotted on ebay a few weeks ago it soon dissapeared. Listed as a Trek downhill bike was clearly a specialised with a dubious front braking system.

I had one of those Spec Stumpy Comps (07) vintage I think, came with Fox F120's in black. This is a massive dodge.

Someone must know a copper who can put on some heat?!?

Some of those listing have dissappeared, I guess because they didn't sell and they ran out of time. Anyone know if there's a way to view it still?

Yeah just do an advanced search on the seller

and it will bring up their sales like so

Ebay don't give a toss about his sort of thing, or indeed in my experience if you do buy something faulty from a regular seller - they are all about the money.

It is a pretty shocking state of affairs that someone can sell valuable stolen good so brazenly on a public site and get away with it!

I love how in today's society (the low-life portion of it, anyway) saying "I'm doing this because I need the money" seems to be a catch-all phrase that excuses anything. Hmmmm, I need some money, perhaps it would be morally acceptable to go and mug a few grannies? After all, if you need the money................

The problem with this scenario is the whilst I am 99% convinced he is selling liberated shed content in the eyes of the law you need to prove it is stolen.

I don’t think there is much the police can do without being confident you can pin something on the guy, the only alternative is to go vigilante with a set of Bombers!
