And take a couple of measurements for me. I know the geometry diagram is on their website but the diagram of how the measure the horizontal top tube is confusing. Not sure whether the diagram is wrong ?

what exactly are you after?
the diagram shows the effective top tube length as B - 590mm

EDIT: ok, see what you mean, the effective length isnt really shown on the diagrame. it should be like figure 5 in this diagrame:

just measured it - effective is 590mm
actual tt length is approx 565mm

Thanks, that's brilliant, that's the exact info I was after, so as I understand your info the 590mm on your canyon is really as per the no5 on the diagram and not the as per canyons rubbish diagram 🙂
Don't suppose I could really push my luck and ask you to measure where the 803mm stand over is measured. Hoping it's about halfway along the top tube. I apologise for being so nerdy about measurements but the combination of being not able to test ride the canyons and being marginal size wise to be even able to fit on the smallest frame size at 5'7" but making sure the bike isn't going to be too big is the only thing stopping me hitting the buy button.
Really appreciate the help. I owe you a beer 😉

I'll try to remember to measure it in the morning for you. I'm 5'10" with a 32" inside leg and I'd say it's perfect for me.

Your best test riding though - I'm in bristol if you want to swing your leg over one.....

I've just popped out with a tape measure...

760mm where the "F8" is on the TT.
803mm is where the second/middle brake hose clip is on the underside of the TT

Hope that helps a bit.

That should help, thanks. What size are you ? I slung a leg over my mates giant XTC 29er medium and that had very similar geometry with a 800 standover at about halfway down the toptube, and that was fine, so I suspect that it can be much different. I think the 590 ETT is fine for me, my Epic was similar at 589mm and a nice fit for me. I was just concerned that their interpretation of ETT was different than everyone elses. If they measure 590mm from the point B on the drawing then you'd be getting an ETT of prob over 620mm on everyone elses way of meauring.
I work as a CAD designer amongst many other things, and if I published a drawing, even if its only a represetative diagram and not a scaled working drawing then I'd expect to be told to get my finger out !! 🙂

Yes I would have thought youd be between Large and Medium. I am slap bang between Medium and "look for something else" I have Emailed canyon UK with some sizing queries, because I dont quite trust their online info, but no reply
