Had a set of ti h bars a few years back on my Gary fisher ferrous and loved them but sold as needed the cash. Thinking about getting another set but never run them with a suspension fork. Apart from not looking 'right' anyone encountered any problems?

I did for maybe 6 months, but never clicked with that combo - and I'm a huge H-bar fan. As soon as you have a fork doing some of the work for you it seems I have less need of the advantages an H bar gives, ie the different muscles used, leverage / bracing against impacts etc. Preferred a riser with sus forks - no logic in that really since you can ride in the same way with or without a sus fork, it's just what I found.
I guess if i was doing really long rides on a sus fork I'd appreciate the comfort of the H bar, but for me sus = rougher faster terrain = control from a wide riser that feels comfier for longer as I have the sus.

Cheers, yeah it's counter intuitive but something I suspected. I shall continue to mull esp as I sold my rigid fork a while back!

Oh and I may take you up on the offer to try your jones!

I've got a pair of Titec J bars on a Turner Flux. I like them but it does make the steering a tad vague on the downs for some reason.

I had a set of [Titec] H-bars on my front-suspended Genesis and it just didn't work.

My experience was similar to Jameso (up there ^) - I guess the angles change too much with all the moving about the front end does with suspension, whereas generic flats/risers just kinda go up and down (given the difference in backsweep angles twixt the H/Loops and generic flats/risers). I didn't try it but I'd imagine that Mary / Carnegie bars would also feel kinda similarly wrong (in principle). The longer stem H/Loops ideally need might not have helped either.

I've got H bars on my rigid SS Kona and Loops on my rigid Swift and they work really well on both ...so much so that I find risers really uncomfortable now.

I also tried to use h bars with a suss fork for a good length of time and could never get on with them.
I couldn't tell you why but something just didn't feel right.

Love em on rigid bikes though.

James speaks the truth.

Alternative viewpoint - I use H bars and Loop bars on all my bikes - just work great all the time - here's the FS -
