Thanks, ideally I’d get a wattbike but the wait time means it would be almost spring before it arrived
Looks like it’s possible to fit wahoo or similar sensors to a spin bike as a quick/cheap option but wondered if anyone actually has experience of it. Won’t bother if it’s a faff or doesn’t work properly

That's my set up.

1 knackered laptop living in the shed.
1 speed sensor
1 Candence sensor
1 ancient tacx magnetic turbo
1 ANT+ dongle in the laptop
1 road bike

I hotspot the laptop to the phone as my house WiFi signal won't reach.

It took a while to adjust the turbo resistance & zwift weight to get realistic numbers for me but I think it it's great. There is no way I would have been on a turbo for 4 hours without zwift and early in the year there was nothing available to buy...

I've increased my weight by 15kg and the setting on the resistance is 3, gives me a 25kmph ave over 4 hours and 1500m climbing. In real life I do 3000m climbing over 205km and I'm at 23kmph.

For a fraction of the cost of the full setup.

Only downside is the 400w maximum on zwift for dumb turbos, as I can kick more out for a short sprint but it's not the end of the world.

Oops, just realised you said spin bike. Would still work if you have an external reference to tune it to. Stick it down as a dumb turbo and go from there.

In my experience it is too unrealistic without a power meter. I got frustrated at not being able to match my actual fitness to the workouts and race catagories
