I'm thinking of getting one of these to replace my hydration backpack on medium-length rides (on shorter rides I just take a water bottle and go bagless).
How is the fit with a full reservoir? Is it a viable replacement to a hydration backpack, or does it flop around and feel uncomfortable? In other words, if you could go back in time, would you stick with it, or switch it for a small capacity backpack with a hydration reservoir?
I found that the weirdest thing was the position of the hose and needing to bend over a bit to drink. Then I got a bike with enough space for a water bottle so I haven't bothered with the bladder since. I'll occasionally stick a 500ml bottle in the pack as a backup to the 750ml I carry on the bike. That's normally enough for me.
Ive got the Evoc Hip Pack Race 3L
its great, 1.5 litre reservoir plus space for other stuff, multi tool, tube etc
dont notice it there.. but occasionally the strap isn't as tight as needed and can feel a little low after a bumpy descent, its never stopped me tho...
ive used it over a 3.5 hour XC ride, and on my regular 2-2.5 climb and drop rides
never put my backpack on since ive owned it..
the fact that my back is able to breathe is the best thing
Hip pack pro with the 1.5l bladder here, have used it a few times with it full.
No issues, I have a 15l camelback mule with a 3l bladder for longer/all day rides.
With the 1.5l bladder full that's not a huge amount of space for much else but for shorter rides it's perfect.
