After riding my winter/touring bike in the rain yesterday, with it's 35c Vittoria Hypers, and thinking 'this is bloody comfy', I thought I might think about upping the size of the tyres on my nice bike, which is a Road Logic.
Apparently it will take up to 28c, so has anyone done that, and what have you gone for?
Can't help, but if you want to max out the volume for the clearance, you could look for wider rims as well. Different end of the spectrum, but I've just built up some 27mm internal width rims for my Peregrine. Tyres on tonight and 1st spin tomorrow.
My mate did last week in France. I'm trying to remember exactly which, but they rubbed slightly when they got really hot. I'll ask him.
More info:
28mm GP4000s. They clear the frame easily but a tiny amount of rub against front brake (10-sp 7900 dura-ace caliper) if pumped over 90psi.
With 11-sp calipers not a problem. A wider rim would be fine too. 28mm GP4000 measures about 31mm anyway!
Good to know, thanks.
I fitted some last month for Ride to The Sun. Hutchinson Sector 28's - tubeless. Great in the dry and no rubbing on the fork (bags of room in the back). I went out with them on yesterday and it had rained overnight so some debris got dragged into the underside of the fork and I could hear a faint rubbing sound. I feared the worst but surprisingly when I got home and cleaned the underside of the fork crown there's no sign of rubbing at all so it must have just been the debris (grass and small stones) catching against the tyre.
I'll need to go back to the 25's in the winter though.
