Getting some Hope Pro IIs on XC717s and CRC look to be the cheapest at the moment, but anyone got experience of buying custom builds from them?

not for a couple of years, so the chap who built my wheel may have moved on, but I've had two years of trouble free riding.

Same with Merlin - I've had a set of theirs for 5+ years, and personally would choose them for service reasons over price.

one wheel. (20mm slx on chunky mavic somethingorother)
ordered 0930 one morning, arrived 10.30 the next day!
it was also cheaper than buying the hub, rim and spokes from crc loose in a box. I've had it about five months and it is still fine, but it has a fairly easy life with a big tyre, squishy fork and relatively un-gnarly rider.

i got a pair of pro2 on XC717s with DT swiss competition spokes from CRC 18months/2yrs ago and i've never had to maintain them. i had the tension checked after a couple of rides and that was it.

Bought me some
Shimano XT Hubs on
Mavic XC717 Disc Rims and
DT Swiss Competition Spokes
and some Brass Pro-lock Nips
from CRC almost 2years ago and they've been great so far.

Pro2 on a 321 on the DH bike here, that's fine, and came quickly too....

Ordered some LX hubs built onto 317 rims and delivered next day.

The rear wheel was missing a spoke though. Sorted out in about a week.
