Happened upon these the other day when looking at something else.
I'm not considering one at all but I was curious about what they're like to ride.

Nobody?
Have I outniched STW?
They are popular on unicycles. Pretty much the only gear system that works there. Can't really see the point on a bike.
Good for all those who have forgotten how to index or operate a front derailleur over the last few years?

Do they still exist??? A friend of mine who owns a local bike brand here had them on a singlespeed set up of one of his bike range to make them double speed. Seemed pretty pointless to me but apparently they worked well at what they did.
Edit: just checked the website and they still do them with Schlumpf!

Got a speed drive & alfine 8 on my tourer. It just works. Chunky old 8 speed chain that never wears out, steel ring & sprocket, dead straight chain line etc
Hadn't seen any mention of these for years. Quite fancied one for a while. At least Schlumpf seems to have outlasted that Truvativ HammerSchmidt thing.

I'd be curious to know what the frame is and what kind of riding you do.
I happened upon Schlumpf when I saw a video entitled 4 gears no cables or something like that. He used a Schlumpf and a 2 speed backpedal change hub.
Frame is an old Scott Hybrid (Sub 10). Relaxed geometry, bomprooof ally but not too heavy, excentric BB. Ideal for internal geared build. Does long road rides, and gentle thrashing in the woods / gravel.
