You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Relative Zwift newbie, and I've just finished the six week FTP Builder plan. I've liked the structure, and the fact that I have to do a session by whatever day it expires, but it's not at a set time, means it gives me the kick up the arse to get it done but can be worked around whether it's me or not walking the dog/making dinner/whatever.
So, next thing is to do an FTP test to (I hope) reset my FTP at a new, higher level, and then I was going to pick another plan to do. Any recommendations?
the STW race series!
Yeah, but that is at a fixed time, so can't be worked around other stuff (and, to be honest, in terms of working it into the rhythms of the IHN household, 7.30 in the evening is about the least convenient time for it to be)
I've just done the gravel grinder plan which I found great for me. I'm going to be doing my own plan for a couple of months now using zwift workout builder), but might return to the GG plan after that with a higher FTP set depending on how things improve with getting out and about in the meantime.
How does 6:45am fit your schedule? You could join us on our "Robbo Workout sessions" Monday and Friday mornings for an hour. There are 4 of us currently and all seeing good gains with SS and VO2 max sessions.
Make your own? I've been doing similar FTP builder plan on RGT cycling (£7/month and much less gamey than Zwift). It's from Training Peaks through RGT. I find the ERG mode great for intervals etc.Anything zone 1/2 I try to do in the real world.
I quite enjoyed the Cape Epic workouts and you can do them one at a time without being locked in. Currently doing the 4 week FTP booster.
I would love to do these but - 6.45am?!!! bwahahahahahah 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂How does 6:45am fit your schedule? You could join us on our “Robbo Workout sessions” Monday and Friday mornings for an hour. There are 4 of us currently and all seeing good gains with SS and VO2 max sessions.
Hadn't seen the Cape Epic workouts, they look great, Ta 🙂 16 to chose from too.

It's honestly not that bad! And I am really not a morning person!
I generally crawl out of bed at 6 - have all my stuff ready the night before, so just need to sling the pile of clothes on that are sitting next to the bed & carry my bag downstairs (towel, BT speaker etc.)
Stick kettle on, feed cats, eat banana & drink a cup of tea.
I'm generally in the garage by 6:30 and get hooked up as quick as possible for the inevitable Zwift glitches.
The best thing about it is that once you tick that you are going to go, there is an inherent drive to do it. It's different to telling yourself you'll set an alarm knowing full well you'll roll over & tell yourself to do it tomorrow instead.
And it means you can get a decent workout in early in the day which takes the pressure off sorting something out later on when other priorities creep in.
And - the general 'chat' means that the session flies by with plenty of encouragement from all sides.
Hardest part of the 6:45am workouts is getting out of bed and avoiding the snooze button, after that it's easy!
The new puppy helps by not letting me go back to sleep without letting her out for a pee.
The GNC workouts on there are tough if you want to up it a bit.

Interested to see how you get on. I'm one week into the same programme

How do these work? does one person provide the session, and you just adjust to your own FTP?

Rob sends you the workout - you stick it in the correct folder on your device.
The workouts are based on %age of FTP, so nothing needs adjusting - Zwift does that for you.
Rob send out an invite to the event and it's set-up as a 'sticky' event or whatever it's called so we all stay together, regardless of power output - this helps as you are riding as a 'group' on the road & the in-ride chat works well to keep everyone motivated (or for me to moan about my technical ineptitude).
When you join the event, you just need to load up the correct workout before it starts - the meetup does not do this for you.
You do this after you have joined the event > Menu > Workout > Custom Workout and select the correct one.
TT Tune-up is OK, you might be able to do the odd short race or TT big effort besides the plan in the first few weeks, but the plan is brutal from around week 5 and you likely won't have energy for much else besides recovery rides.
Good stamina and ftp gains though for me last Jan and Feb... Shame what came next!
I did the full back to fitness plan which was generally fairly easy but a good introduction. I'm now a week into the Zwift racing plan which is far tougher with more and longer workouts.
