Out riding yesterday with a fellow using Sports Tracker. Seemed pretty good.

Any thoughts? Are there better systems?

You can just download for your smartphone right?

I see it'll work with a bluetooth enabled HRM strap too - can you source those cheaply or do you have to buy from them?

I think the heart straps are £££, sofware works fine AFAIK

Only for Nokia but I thought it was really good before I got my iPhone.

I use EveryTrail now which I think has apps for most of the popular phones.

I used Sporttracker a few times until I discovered Endomondo.

Sport Tracke r has better functionality on the phone but Endomondo has better online functions. Although I hear that Sport Tracker has been updated so I might take another look

I just got sports tracker on new phone. Really useful, I like it, but not used anything similar. You can export gpx files from it which is useful for memory-map etc. Not used HRM so cannot comment on that.

it's free. try it.

Aah I see it's Nokia ONLY.

I use a Blackberry (not very up on mobiles).

What's best for that?

I'll look at endomondo and everytrail thanks.

Do these sort of apps not eat you battery life ❓

I used to use sportstracker, but unfortunately they no longer support my ancient phone (e61i). I don't think endomondo does either, so I guess I have to wait until work upgrades our phones...

I used the Nokia Sportstracker and have now have the new version but have been unable to upload to the website - apparently I cycled to somewhere off the coast of Africa.

The new site is very nice - but may now look at some of the others now.

In terms of battery use I tracked a full day at GT on the Beta version on all the routes there and had no problems - tho I never use the phone for tracking when on remote rides in case I need it to summon mountain rescue when I run out of food 😉

The new version isn't run by Nokia so you need to register on the new site, possibly why you haven't been able to upload?

with things like endomondo are you able to upload routes in order to follow them as well as tracking where you've been?
