Like for like they seem cheaper than SRAM or Shimano alternatives. Any good?
The best.
Yeah I generally go with KMC unless there's an amazing deal on SRAM or Shimano ones anywhere.
I've got a gold one on my CX bike and a lary red one on my SS both of which look cool as and SRAM on my 5 Spot (it was cheap).
Mind you I never have a chain long enough for it to wear out so what the **** do I know
Just put a KMC X9 93 on and ridden it twice: Once doing some high power, fast changes, sprint type work and the other on a normal relaxed type ride with easy changes. Seems to works fine, changes down nicely on the cassette, Possibly due to the profile of the link plate. No info on longevity.
Been done loads of times, KMC chains the best, end of. 😆
I've snapped mine a few times with around 60-100 miles use. Not ver spectacular.
I use either XTR or KMC X9.93 and have been for the last three or four years. Longevity is too similar to separate and I'd give the KMC the nod over the XTR in terms of shifting, plus a bonus point for the Missing Link (Powerlink equivalent).
CRC do the X9.93 for £15 - absolutely the best value for money you're going to find when it comes to chains.

Erm, how exactly ?
Possibly an urban myth, but i think that KMC make shimano chains?
I use them on all my bikes.
it might be down to pedalling/shifting timing but the secnod one was in gear and just snapped under pedalling.
actually I heard they make SRAM ones 😆
I use KMC chains for SS applications, would have no qualms using them for geared but as it happens I don't atm

KMC manufacture Shimano chains with the exception of the Japanese-made XT and XTR/DuraAce. As far as I'm away, SRAM chains are made in Germany at the old Sachs/Sedis plant which SRAM Corp. took over when the bought the company at the beginning of their Empire builing exercise.
Mr Millie had a kmc 8 speed on his (34-26) singlespeed until it wore/stretched, and managed never to snap it. Kmc 8 speed are just fine on commuter and downhill bike too. Only chains he ever broke were shimano hg53's FWIW.
Brilliant chains, last really well and as mentioned are pretty cheap
yup agree X9 for me
The blingly gold SL version is very nice but pricey (I found some dirt cheap on ebay a while back and bought three ;))so go for the X9-93 from CrC
Using a 10 speed on my race bike and it's so good I'll be replacing the chains on my other bikes with KMCs
always run KMC chains, double the life of sram...so dam strong and pretty decent prices too.
I use x9 9 speed on the MTB and 10 speed on the road bike and they are simply awesome. Much better than SRAM and Shimano. Better performance, better on wear and great longevity. Highly recommended!
