There seem to be a few alarmed locks on ebay but none seem to combine the security of say kryptonite with an audible alarm.

Plus it's difficult to tell if the audible alarm only starts once the lock is bust (the thief could be well on their way by that point) or if they alarm if moved or tampered with?

Can anyone recommend one? I was vaguely thinking of some combination of feeding a flimsy alarm cable lock down the fabric sleeve of a kryptonite. Chain?b

I used to use one on the back of my camper for the bikes , mainly for the flashing led light at night to discourage theives, unfortunately the rain got into the battery compartment and shorted it out !
lesson learned......never go to the Lakes on holiday !

I had one I used for camping, just to make sure I was woken up is someone tried to take the bikes off the car. Never set off in anger, so can't comment on it's efficiency, but seemed a good idea.

When camping I used to just lock my wheels to my bike outside my tent and then had a cable alarm that went through the frame into the tent. Simples

The alarm sounds when the padlock is locked and the lock is moved on the one I have.

Any links? The only alarm padlock I can find from a reputable company is the oxford boss?

Having just had my bike nicked from outside work, I want a combination of SECURE and LOUD 🙂

The Oxford Boss is pretty good IMO, sturdy enough as a lock in itself and the alarm works well (initial warning beep on first disturbance then goes off if disturbed again), it's pretty sensitive but not enough it will go off with a gust of wind or something (at least not IME). They are pricey though (£55 I think I paid at a local motorbike parts shop...).

Mine was very similar to this one: http://www.amazon.com/Voltage-Valet-Cable-Alarm-2CA-Y/dp/B004ALISBI/ref=pd_cp_p_0

Not secure on it's own, but good as a back up to wake you up if someone tries to move your stuff.
