Currently a standard truvativ gxp bottom bracket costs £25 new and lasts me about 6 months. I am considering the Hope BB with converter, which costs about £80 odd all in.

So my question... is it worth it? and is there any disadvantages?

I read online some guy had trouble with the converter just revolving but he might have just fitted it wrong, so any tips on installation?

I have a hope bb with gxp converter cups, been running 6 months through winter and is good a new, I was in the same dilemma and have no regrets.

Also very easy to install!

Mine has been going 2 years working perfectly. Its so tight it definately shouldnt be revolving. There is an installation video on the Hope website that tells you exactly how it all works.

There's a typically down-to-earth fitting video on the Hope site.

Another happy user here, I do think the replacement hope bearings are overpriced bit still happier to pay Hope prices for bearings that I can measure the lifespan in months or even years as opposed to days or at best weeks for a gxp bb.

You may hate me for saying this but I just got a gxp b.b from Hellfords for 16.79. Disposable at that price.

Hope BB with GXP converter running happily for 18 months and counting through plenty of the Peak District's finest gritty mud here - good kit. Definitely check out the installation videos, there's a knack to getting them fitted right.
