Anyone know if this is as flat as it looks / more like XC or is there some fun to be had?
Want to get some events in this year.
Cheers all
Don't know which one you had in mind, but Minehead is definitely not flat...
100% not flat. Great fun trails
I have only done the Milland and Exmoor rounds of this previously. And ridden QE/Head down, but outside of the Enduro series (as they are free to ride).
Its a well setup series. Well organised and runs smoothly. Courses are far from flat. No mandatory features, but they are obviously the quicker route (rather than a chicken line). Plenty to get stuck in to, but all aimed at an intermediate rider.
I would get involved and enjoy!
Milland was easier than Minehead, Minehead being steeper and rootier... But as above, none of the features were impossible... but the trails both had their challenges...
For me, most of that challenge was staying ahead of the rider trying to catch me lol.
Well organised though, well represented and the courses have been given a lot of thought to keep them interesting.
The only one I've done was Tiverton and those trails were fairly flat and boring honestly. The event itself was really organised and well run though, and I've heard Minehead is waaay better.
Don’t think they’ve used the steep side of the hill for the last couple of years at minehead. No idea about the other rounds.
i`ve done a couple - its a series based in the south so you are never going to get welsh gnar
on account of it being in the south! but the trails use the best of what is available to them. really well run.
If you're after something a little flatter and more pedalling the have a look at pedal-hounds. Although I have to say Southern enduro Q/E and pippingford rounds are flatter than others in the series but still great fun and the events are really well run.
The ones east of milland are flat
How flat is the Pippingford one - in relation to the Marathon ride they did there last season? Many of the same sections?
Am wondering whether my 120mm bike will be better than the big one!
I would be quite happy racing my Spur at most of their venues, bar probably Minehead/Triscombe.
It would be the faster bike IMO, because they are pretty flat, tight & pedally.
I’m half tempted to try the Spur with the wheels off my bigger bike even at the above, because I think it might be quicker.
Scott loves to include a good pedal so youre probably right that a smaller bike will be quicker as you'll make up more time on the pedal than will lose on the 'descent'.
I think an xc ht would be the right bike for pippingford
but the trails use the best of what is available to them.
They certainly don’t, there are far better, steeper trails at QE, Mindhead etc.
Edit, actually that’s a bit unfair, as the better trails may not be available for them to use, but there are definitely better trails in these areas.
