Looking to build up my first ss. I have a small budget £300 initially to get the basics. I'll take my time putting it together and the budget will be added to as I go along.

Anyone suggest a good frame to start with? Budget for frame would be up to £150.

A nice Santa Cruz Chameleon frame with horizontal drop outs, within your budget.

Strangely I have one for sale...

I'm sure you don't need reminding of the words of Mr Bontrager.

Mr. Bontrager? Why - what did he say? - there's no such thing as a cheap & light frame?

"Strong. Light. Cheap. Pick Two." is what he said. However I don't believe he was refering to the STW classifieds at the time.

£150 for a frame?! That's a little extravagant, don't you think!? This is much more like it....

Only thing putting me off an Inbred is the weight.

You could spend 5x the price on a Soul; that way you'd save 500g!

Seriously, forget about the weight if you're on a budget. Spend the difference on a better set of wheels. you'll end up with a much better bike at the end.

Rigid forks. Was looking at the Exotic ones. Again I'm on a budget so looking for ones off here, eBay, or pink bike.

Also looking for a light wheelset now as well.
