if he is/was deer spotting then he'll be well off the usual bike trails.

Well if his car was at the car park earlier as stated in this thread and is now gone. Does that mean he does not want to be found at present?

The car's been taken away by the police

Is that normal practice in the event of a missing person? I guess that if it's parked illegally, then they have a duty to do so. And if they're looking for "clues" then the forensics guys might want it indoors? But I'd be ****in' annoyed if I came back after a couple of nights out camping to find that someone had taken my car away.

I think there's a reason, I'm not too sure what but that's what one of the lads told me late this afternoon.

Standard police proceedure for a misper. Means he has to make contact with someone on his return...

Strange, given from what I understand of the thread, he doesn't have his mobile with him so he's going to be back at a carpark in the Qs without any way of getting home or calling for assistance.

Still, fingers crossed all is well.

They've taken his car coz there's no window left!
The chopper will be back up later to see if theres a better heat signature coming from anywhere.
We've had some leads on him being seen over the last few days and I've just spent a bit of time with his mum who is now waiting in the car park to see if he comes back.
Pretty sure he is out deer spotting and none the wiser!
Not sure what happens if he doesnt show up tonight tho.... could do with some people to ask about if they are riding locally tomorrow. Kind of anyone seen this man stuff as we did it earlier and the second people we asked gave us info.

We'll know more in the morning, but for now im off for a well earned pint. nearly 9 hours we've been out there, Cam has been there since 3.30am!!!!

Sharki... wherever you are.... you owe us a fry up!!!!

There's been some suggestion (from someone who knows him very well) that he might be walking on Exmoor. Its a massive walk from where his car is, but might be worth passing on to the police or checking out if someone is there.

Good luck guys. My thoughts are with him / you all. Doing as much as I can from Bristol.

It'd be bloody good going to get from his car at 3pm yesterday to exmoor. We heard a bit about the porlock walk too but knowing he's been seen so recently makes it unlikely. We've also got all the exmoor search team on the quantocks. Not many left over there!! Just hope he's local enough to be found or that he returns to his mums camper later this evening!!

Just a thought, as this is fairly serious, any chance the mods can "sticky" the thread to stop it fallin off the end of the page?

does anyone actually know if the Police / S&R are requesting public en mass for a methodical organised search - i think that may well be the only way to utilise everyones feelings of being useless ???

is anyone in the position to ask the Police this Q as i think internerd response would be huge!

Update as at 11.30am

Charlie has called to say could anyone in the Exmoor/North Devon/coastal area, particularly Portlock/Watchet/Lynmouth/Lynton - please look out for Shane as it's believed he's gone walkabout along the coast. We believe some police spoke to him Saturday, they were unaware of the search for him at the time.

Cheers, think i feel a bit more positive after hearing that. Hope he's just gone on long walk and the daft bugger forgot he was meant to have the kids that weekend and the number 1 rule of going out on own - Always tell someone where yer going.

If the latest is that he's on the coast, has the Lilstock Beach Hut been checked? He likes it there, but it strikes as the first place to check so I'm probably stating the obvious.

I hope he is being his normal gungho self, and off exploring oblivious to everyones concerns.

A top bloke who knows how to survive in the elements, and a daft bugger to boot!

(Has he taken his gold hotpants with him) 😉

All the best fella, get back to your family real soon.

Ricko
thats the first place I went , the police also searched the area. I have been out on the coast path asking passers by if they have seen him and had a possible sighting at Webbers post(exmoor) . The search on the Qs has pretty much petered out police wise. The devonshire police will take over the search along the coast path and are already looking in that area.
Fingers crossed Sharki will surface soon.
The police didnt need our help today on the Qs but if you out and about keep your eyes peeled please.

I left the Q's at 13:00 and saw a lot of mountain bikers/ walkers out and about but no police so assume that they are looking elsewhere? I see from above that he may of moved to another area. I was cycling alone in the bright orange jacket just in-case I passed any of you

Fingers crossed that he will be back asap

Excellent! Well the above link is where he could well be walking no one would put it past him trying the whole thing. At the moment it seems a starting point.
His mum is still waiting for him in the carpark where his car was left.

This thread is too serious to make me laugh, but now Houns has mentioned a cute blonde I'm hoping Sharki will log in to get details.

Had hoped this was a wind up on his part, go missing on Good Friday and resurrect himself on Easter Monday. You're leaving it a bit late Sharki. Hope you're OK somewhere.

Ha... Bagpuss we're using the humour to keep high spirits! We all decided he was watching us yesterday wondering what all the fuss was about! Wouldnt put it passed him...

If it wasnt his weekend for the kids and his phone rang out i'd have no concerns, i'd assume he was just out and about. But as he didnt pick up the little uns and his phone is off its very unlike him.

I don't know him well so not familiar with his habits. But do you think it is odd that he left his car parked at the great bear? And for some time since it seems to have been vandalised.
Please turn up shane we will buy you a large supply of cake.

I'm hoping he's out laying the worlds biggest easter egg trail, so the next time we go biking on the Q's there will be a choccie break every 3 miles or so. Come back soon dude.

Just got back from Looe in South Cornwall but didn't see him on that stretch of the coast path. He's probably speed marched through that section already and is well into Dorset 😉

Seriously though, here's hoping for some good news soon so we can all relax. Very anxious time for all his family. Hope they can remain positive & hope they meet back up with Shane soon.

Going back to the Bristol connection, does Sharki have a tent? a purple one has pitched up beside one of the more off beat trails in Leigh Woods, I had a look in, no one there just a green sleeping bag.

Just seen this post - nothing useful to add as I don't live in the area, but I just wanted to say that I hope he's OK as he's a fantastic chap who was incredibly generous and helpful when I was coming down to ride in the Quantocks.

By the sound of things, hopefully he's out there walking away in his own world without realising that anyone is worrying.

if shane's doing the coastal work it might be worth locals on here (if there are any) popping into their bearby pub to let them know he's missing as he's bound to turn up at one at some point. hopefully the pubs will then pass the message on.

just an idea 🙂
