I got a Chunky Monkey front and smorgasbord rear but I'm finding the smorgasbord a bit vague, it doesn't feel like it's doing much then locks and slides, the monkey on the front seems OK at the moment, I'm considering putting a monkey on the rear for the alps, so drag isn't such an issue. will I die?
Did exactly that with the softer compound one at the front, fantastic tyre that I wish was tubeless approved ( removed only to go tubeless)
Loads of grip and I think rolled better than equivalent high roller without the driftyness
I've just built my new'un up with 2.4" CMs front and rear. Both went up tubeless in seconds with no trouble at all (P35 rims).
Not properly ridden yet though, so i can't comment further.
No you won't die* (take insurance just in case though) Ran CM's front and rear in Sierra Nevada (Spain) last year without issues. A little draggy but not enough to think "I wish I'd opted for a different tyre" and as it was mainly uplifted it didn't make a whole lit if difference anyway.
Decent enough grip on the loose dusty stuff and same on the Rocky sections, offers a bit of comfort too. Only just taken the front one off which isn't a bad life for a £20 tyre

Really, really easy to set up tubeless - literally seconds of shaking before it's air tight. I daftly used the softer compound front and rear which was a bit draggy, but almost only noticable on tarmac and gravel. Go for the harder compound (Enduro) on the rear and stick to the trails and it should be just fine.
Had a set on front and rear as winter tyres on the Krampus - they come up very big, especially on 50mm rims.
Performed very well as a rear tyre. I reversed the tyre on the rear, and it seemed to improve what was already pretty good grip and handling.
Went to the maritime Alps and ran Minion 2.5 Exo front & CM rear, both tubeless...great combo and left them on when I came home
I love my CM front. I ran it tubeless for an alps trip last year, but it came off the rim at QECP Night Gravity Enduro, as did at least one other CM user that night. Brant was catagorical that it WASNT a TR tyre. I'm hesitant to run it tubeless again on a bike that I use at high speed in unforgiving terrain.
I ran trail extremes front and rear in the Alps, they never let me down and as has been said are incredibly easy to set up tubeless. They also seem pretty tough, I was the only one not to puncture and there were some heavy scratches to the sidewalls that they withstood.
I'm running them same direction front and rear, I'd like to try the harder compound reversed next time. It may be a little draggy but not particularly noticably for such a large volume tyre.
Well I've got a hard compound ordered to take if I can't sort the smorg. Mine have been fine tubeless but next week should give them a proper test.
Codeine hangers are in too, can breathe a sigh of relief. If I'd not had one then you could guarantee I'd bend something, now I should get one you can be certain I won't.
Are the CMs not essentially the same as Ardents?
