[Closed] Anyone running 140mm forks on an older (2011-2012) Specialized Camber frame?

Anyone? The frame usually takes 120mm forks (26er not 29er) and I'm thinking of trying some 140mm Revelations but not sure if the frame can take them.

Any real world experiences?

Yes.

I'm running U-Turn Revelations on mine, currently set to around 135mm which is a sweet spot.

I'm not dead yet.

Used to as well no problem at all will probably void warranty though.

I had 130s in mine, made it a lot better, never tried 140 but I don't think it'd be mad. But for me the real fix was a new frame so I didn't spend much time on it.

Yes! Same as above. Running 135 on u turn revs. Wind down to 150 occasionally when pointing downhill.

In my opinion the frame is much more suited to the slightly longer travel. The BB is pretty low and was getting lots of pedal strikes with the stock 120 rebas.

Had a set of 454 pikes on before but heavy.

May aswell put a pic up 🙂 here the revs are set at 135 dead.

Been running 150mm dual position revs on my GFs 2010 camber for a couple of years now, made a massive difference to the handling and gave loads of confidence on the downs without too much sacrifice on the ups - she rarely (never!) uses the dual position, so I wouldn't bother next time.

I've just got an offset bush to go in the shock to slacken it further and drop the bb back down a bit which will hopefully help with the cornering as well.

We rang specialized at the time and they said they would warranty the frame with a 150mm fork, but no more.

Is anyone running 140mm forks on the 29er camber? The rule of thumb from Specialized is 20mm extra than standard, but as the evo and standard frame are exactly the same except for travel they come with, it is not clear whether the maximum you can run is 130 or 140mm. Any one tried/got an official answer? Thanks.

Thanks for all the input people.

Looking at the approximate geometry changes it seems like a 140mm fork would slacken the head angle nicely and raise that problematically low bottom bracket without upsetting things too much;

I was thinking the same thing and didn't find much out there from people who have tried it. Now I have tried it!
I upgraded my Camber 2012 Expert to a 140mm Revelation RCT3 with hope pro evo2 hub. I have a 70mm stem and 720mm EA70 bar. I was worried it would through the geometry off and make it to slouchy but it's actually spot on!

Climbs as before, steers as well as before but holds it's line better through the rough stuff. Slightly slacker angle is nice for the descents. I think 140mm really suits the frame. Lively, but confident. BB not risen too high - feels just as stable as before but now less chances of rock strikes from the super low BB. Revelation also much better than the Reba it came with.

Sure the frame will hold up - I didn't have a warranty anyway since it was second hand. If your considering the change - go for it!
