Doing this tomorrow with a couple of mates. Anyone else going to be there? Looking forward to it although am sure my flat peddled, flared bar steel [s]gravel[/s] bike will exactly fit in. Might take the mud guards off in an attempt to make it look at least a little bit racy.

Best part is that it doesn't count as a real weekend out cycling as have been encouraged to do it by my wife as the sponsorship raises money for a cystic fibrosis charity which is close to her heart.

Anyway... Will I be seeing any of you there too?

Did it a few years ago loved it. Always freezing at the top. Guy Martin flew round it on his Rourke singlespeed so I'm sure you won't be that out of place.

Think it's him and Jason Kenny this year so no way I'm going to be in the top 2!

Have a good time Tom. I did it last year and it tipped it down start to finish, Buxton to Leek was horizontal driving rain and strong crosswinds, quite possibly the worst half hour ever on a bike. The weather isn't looking too bad tomorrow, but a lack of childcare has ruled out my chances this year. There's a great selection of cakes and sandwiches at the end, enjoy.

Cheers Steve. Have finished now. Took about 3.5 hours. Was great fun. First sportive I have ridden and was a bit wary that it would be overly competitive but there was a great friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be riding again next year. Was overtaken by the legend Guy Martin and spoke to him for a few minutes about the same thing everyone else he had overtaken talked to him about. He didn't seem to mind at all - guess he is used to it. Anyway, good times!
