I'm working down there this week and what with the nice weather, I was thinking of bringing the bike down in the van tomorrow morning, riding back and riding down again on Wednesday morning to get a bit of midweek training in.
The direct route A37/A39 seems like it would be a nice enough ride - a reasonably hilly 25 or 26 miles door to door. Is it going to be horrible with the traffic (given that this week, the kids are on holidays so it's a "bit" quieter)?
Anybody do it regularly and think it's ok for a once/twice off ride?
Cheers.
Yep, quite a lot - its on our audax route. A37/39 is horribly busy, with some nasty hills. You can't avoid the hills, but there are nicer routes. I'll email you.
Ah, cheers adh - email's in profile (I think). If not, darcyciaran [at] mac [dot] com
I'm not worried about the hills - not being masochistic, but with the Etape Caledonia in a month's time, I need to learn to love 'em 🙂
Oh we can do hills - just no need to share them with wagons doing 60+
Yeah, A37/A38 are horrible roads. Avoid!
