Quite like the look of this one for sale on the bay. Cant seem to find many of them in this spec though.
Any experience of them?

Yeah, wanna see a pic? Not that spec, cos I built with parts from another bike mostly, wheels cheap from CRC black friday sale (as was the frame)

It's weird, cos tbh I'm not sure I love the Commencal yet. I've got another cheap hardtail, a mullet with similar geometry and 130mm forks that seems more fun. I need to get the Pikes properly tuned and ride it some more though. But she sure is perty.
Yes it was the first non 26" bike I had. I went for a large which felt just slightly too long for me. otherwise it was very good, the internal routing was a bit of a hassle for setting up the rear brake.
The seat tower is quite tall so would benefit from a longer dropper post if you want to get right over the back wheel
I only chose to part with it because I wanted to a steel frame. Now on a pace RC627 and there is not a huge amount of difference between the two.
Yes,I ride one. Bought the frame and built it with spare parts. Currently on 27.5 wheels but soon moving to 29.
I am very happy so far, it feels very planted and confident when going down. It might not be as playful as the lower travel HTs out there, but I would not change it. I actually like the fact that there are not many around.
I have one as previous poster said its not mega playful more of a straight line bruiser. But i do enjoy it and feels good on local offpiste/downhill tracks.
But its fun and use it a lot
Yes I built this from scratch this winter. £1,300 in total (the forks and wheels were second hand), despite upgrading to SLX shifter and mech (rest is NX).

Early days but this is quite an all rounder. It really does it all despite the 170mm travel (which will probably go down to 150mm). 2.8F and 2.6R Rekons is quite a summer choice but works well without much of the expected floatiness.
@nickfrog nice! (as are the others posted)
What's the sizing like?
I'm a large in most bikes I've had (mostly Spesh and a YT Capra), but considering trying an XL - 6' but long legs, short (er) torso
I've got one with Yari's and Spank race wheelset . It's a great bike and I've actually not used my gravel bike since I bought It as I do everything on it. My E bike is knackered so in the last month I've done GT , Gypsy Glen and also bits of Yair and Inners XC . Its surprisingly light in my opinion. The only thing I will upgrade is the brakes which are shite as guide T's. Im planning using It for bike packing so I will probably stick the 2.8 Maxxis reckons back on It. I previously had an Orange crush which was fairly similiar .

I am 6ft too and L feels spot on with a 170mm dropper slammed. The bigger XL reach may work too though.
Did anyone buy the interesting looking CroMo iteration? Never seen one in the flesh!

Sounds like you're right on the border of L/XL to me. I'm just under 5'11 and the large felt too short with a 40mm stem - 50mm stem is spot on for me and I know folk like to have their short stems.
I did! I have the Crmo version a XL in green and absolutely love it.

FWIW Commencal suggest L for up to 6ft2 (1m90) and XL from 6ft1 (1M87). While the overlap can probably be extended depending on personal taste, XL might be a bit big for 5ft11.
XL might be a bit big for 5ft11.
Agreed, I wouldn't want any bigger. Was a 6ft-er asking though, so the L is probably the right one for him
I'm 6'1" and find the XL great, I was looking for a long bike though. It took a little getting used to but it is ace now. Mine is also slightly underforked so longer than originally designed
Mine is also slightly underforked
Looking at the photo, it appears to only have half a fork! 😀

Don't worry, it was also half the price.
One half of a (non coil) fork is mostly just air anyways, right?
