I'm looking for a day's guided ride when I'm in Marbella in a few weeks' time. Hike and Bike look close by and seem to get good reviews, but I don't know whether that's from people who are regular mountain bikers or not. I'm not looking for anything too gnar, and won't bother taking my own bike for just one day's ride, but I want to feel like I've made the most of it. Anyone ridden with them?
Me. Can't recommend them highly enough.
They have some nice 29er hardtails that are ideal for lots of the XC routes that wend their way through the region and Wayne will happily provide maps, GPS tracks etc. matching your requirements if you want to go off on your own (which is how I did it). He also knows where the good beer stops are 🙂
Thanks Scotroutes. Was there anything that you'd say their bikes felt out of their depth on? I ride a 120mm hardtail generally and will have a go at most things, but had assumed a full suss would be more appropriate out there..?
Ooh Snap!
I'm holidaying with non-biking partner in Marbella 9 - 18 September and in same boat. Hike & Bike sound great! Could just about get away with sneaking off for a day's xc riding.
Drop me a line if dates coincide and you fancy pairing up & booking something?
That would have been good. Unfortunately we're not going until the third week in October. It would be good to hear how you get on if you use them though. Thanks.
No worries, thanks for the heads-up anyway. I'll get in touch with them and report back if anything comes of it.
Reporting back!
Paired up with the thoroughly capable Pembo from here and booked bikes and a guided trip from Ronda down to the coast. Wayne and Heather made it really easy to arrange, and the bikes were pretty much ideal for the trails we rode. Not too technical, enough of a climb to get warmed up before 28km of fun descending on rocky, loose, dusty dirt track with enough naturally eroded features and switchbacks to keep things varied & interesting. Can totally recommend!
Already planning a return, and next time I think I'll follow Scotroutes example above & stay in Ronda and spend a couple of days exploring some of the routes Wayne has put together.
Glad you had a good time. It's always a bit worrying when you give a recommendation 🙂
Glad to hear it went well. I I'm booked up for a similar day out in a month's time. Can't wait.
Oh no. More pressure.... 😳
Well, I've just got back after s fantastic day in the hills with Wayne. Great trails, great company, and great weather. Can't recommend it enough. Felt like a day out in the Lakes but with amazing weather. Heartily recommend it to anyone heading out this way.
Excellent info, bookmarked !
