Morning all,

We're off to Mark Warner in the summer.  In addition to the usual beach activities, they also have a large fleet of MTBs, so I was wondering if anyone had been and could give me an idea of what it's like to ride there?

Is it worth taking pads, or will everything be smooth, wide tracks?  Are there marked trails, or is it easy to explore, or do you need a guide?

In the ideal world, has anyone got any Strava MTB tracks or GPX files for there?

Have been to MW in Kos a few years back; so comments below are based upon that. We had one of the guides (Chris?) who had spent the summer working in Sardinia come over to Kos for the last few weeks of the season, and said that Sardinia was better on the bike. With that in mind...

The organised rides were fairly decent as a social group ride, I guess it would mainly be called poorly maintained fire road, but bits that a landrover would struggle on. So some nice climbs and descents that were fun at speed.

You can go on your own, they can give you a map of their routes or you can make it up. If someone could give you a GPX that would be good.

Not worth taking pads; but take your own helmet. If you're a clipped in rider, take your own pedals, they'll put them on for you.

OK, thanks.  Sounds like 5-10s, helmet and Quad lock it is then. 🙂

The only part of Sardinia I’ve been to is Cagliari (and surrounding area) minus the bike last November. We went on a walk over the Devils Saddle (iirc), down the coast slightly, and I was jealously looking at the tyre tracks as we walked this rather lovely looking track. Dusty, steep rocky drops and cactus (and other spiky plants.) I saw locals riding it in Lycra.

If I go back with a bike I might take thin pads but not sure whether they’d be necessary. Of course, I only saw a couple of miles of track..
