I've got a Control Tech that flexes a fair bit, quite noticeably in fact, but that's 27.2. I think the extra girth of your post makes it stiffer (fnarr fnarr) and to BR honest that's probably most of the problem.... 🙂

I run Raceface Next 30.9 carbon posts. Never broken.....yet and do come up on here second hand for about £40. Very light with damping effect, well I have convinced myself it does. However the most flexy post is a Ti one.

Moots or Ericson Ti should be a bit more forgiving.

I've got a 27.2mm ti post with a shim to 30.9mm. Worked a treat but don't use it any more

Try the i-beam saddle and seatpost combo, works for me and will save some serious grams

Had the same issue on a Pace 303. Went for a USE Sumo Carbon post. Was a lot better.

Rob I've got a 305 as well. It's got a real sting hasn't it?

I had a USE alien and now a sumo (both are 27.2 with a shim) shockpost , which are great.

They're not as cumbersome as a thudbuster and quite light as well.

I've got the USE alloy shockpost. Brilliant bit of kit. I'd suggest you get the firmest one. I couldn't ride my hardtail for more than a couple of hours without getting terrible back pain, whereas with this post I could ride all day again.

Rob, I went or the alloy sumo XCR.

IIRC the carbon is heavier than the alloy, I spoke to one of e guys at USE about it and they said there's no difference in performance the carbons just for those who want a bit of extra bling.

Give USE a ring if you need more info or have questions, they've got brilliant customer service. I sent them my 20 year old SX (that I bought from the classifieds here) after I tried and failed to service it. They took a look at it, told me it was too old to do anything with and then offered me a new post at trade. 😯 i really didnt expect that, so I got the XCR.

Ah well, each to their own - I don't find thudbusters cumbersome at all. They do weight a bit over 100g more IIRR than a telescopic one though (for the LT version; I'd expect the ST weighs less).
Action is lovely and a bit more travel than most telescopic posts

Scaerdy I just meant in looks. The USE looks simpler, which for me is more appealing.

I've never used one though, so it might be worth the weight penalty. I'm just a bit of a USE fan as I've used their seat posts since the mid 90's
