If so who did you use and how much did it cost?

Royal mail are charging the earth to send anything nowadays so was wondering who was best to use now.

Cheers

Steve

Posted one yesterday - myhermes (via city link)

Need to see what it looks like when it arrives but it was well boxed and wrapped in bubble wrap and cardboard so hopefully be ok

Was £10.60 for the 5-10kg bracket. Could have gone for the one down but didn't want to chance it (not got proper scales but I knew bike weighed about 4kg - those old enduros are heavy!)

On a similar note, anyone posted a frame to France recently? Trying to get an idea of cost and reliable carriers.

Thanks.

There will be some changes on Monday 21 October
http://www.royalmail.com/termschanges

In brief they are an admission that the charges introduced in April were a big mistake:

Hopefully the bloke I have just bought a frame from has posted it today. He charged me £15 postage which seems about right

Parcelforce, £16 to send a long, heavy, steel tandem frame, not bad at all.

Parcelforce from Isle of Wight to Strathpeffer (both 'remote regions', apparently).

£14 or thereabouts.

Sent a few frames with Parcelmonkey using City Link Next Day. Usually about a tenner. No problems 🙂

Myhermes are super cheap compared to RM for bigger stuff.
Can drop it off at a local drop of place where they just scan it no waiting in for collection.

I know the Royal mail/Parcelforce prices have been creeping up but I have always thought for £15 or so to deliver your frame the length of the country, and if your not in they leave it at the post office for you to collect is all a bit of a bargain.

It is always a bonus in my opinion when you buy something when it's sent Parcelforce purely for the pickup option at the post office.
