I've just swapped out SRAM Rival 1 for Shimano GRX 810 (cable to hydraulic), and the GRX hoods feel a lot longer than the Rival ones, I now feel really stretched out when on the hoods. I know I can shorten stem / move saddle forwards, but was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or is it just me?
They are long yes. They do take some getting used to and it is tempting to put a shorter stem on. You do get used to it - but that depends on how stretched you are. I really like the shape, the rubber and the design of the levers and having your hand fully on them is very comfortable for longer rides.
Yea, the feel is great, just loooong!
Not as long as the old 105/tiagras. Most new gravel bikes tend to run a shorter stem and wider bars than road bikes. I don't find the GRX brifters long but they are super comfy compared to srams road levers.
All the hydraulic shimanos are considerably longer than their mechanical equivalents. Even the dura ace STI's aren't nearly as neat as their wirey brothers.
the SRAM hoods are a result of SRAMs inability to make anything without goosing it.
the master cylinder is in a daft orientation and fails.
