Hi
Anyone know where in the south east (Hertfordshire) I might find some of these circuit racing venues? the ones like mini motor racing circuits but for road bike racing?

Ta.

Hillingdon
Hog Hill
+ I think there's another one just outside the M25 somewhere.

Thanks I'll check those out.

Any other clues as to where just outside the m25 might be worth investigating?

Straight down the A5 to Milton Keynes National Bowl.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Tuesday night LVRC racing
Thursday night BC racing

And don't forget we have a local cross league.

Hillingdon is a nice fast and relatively easy cycling specific circuit. Milton Keynes Bowl is more challenging in terms of the surface and the tightness of the bends.

If you are cutting your teeth at road racing Hillingdon is a better bet IMO.

BC = British Cycling (the governing body of cycle sport in the UK)
LVRC = League of Veteran Racing Cyclists, a breakaway organisation that caters for older racers.

There's an events calendar at http://www.britishcycling.org.uk click on Road and you should be able to find stuff local to you. Hertfordshire is in what BC call the Central Region so look there. Hog Hill (aka Redbridge Cycle Centre) is in Eastern Region but it's sort of Essex/NE London border. Hillingdon is West London and is generally regarded as a slightly easier circuit. Also Milton Keynes Bowl as mentioned.

LVRC = League of Veteran Racing Cyclists (you must me over 40)
BC = British Cycling. Elite/2/3/4th cat etc.
The National Bowl is an open air concert venue, but if you Satellite image the Bowl you'll see the kidney shaped road that goes round it, plus they open some service roads for added spice.
The cross league is the Central League, I think nine races for 2010. You can MTB it.
Nearest MTB races are near Amersham, the summit series. You also have the Friday Night Summer Series FNSS but that's more Northants way.
As for Track I think the open track in Welwyn is still in use, but I don't know much about that.
I race the road, MTB and the cross if you want any help.

My training/riding partner is in St Albans.
We meet at least once a week for a night ride which is usually Woburn or Ashridge.
He rides Friday as he is free all that day. As for me I ride when I can and race when I can.

The Bowl is often closed when there's no racing.
I might be racing there tonight if not Amersham Wednesday unless it's wet as |I can't handle it when it's wet.
Where were you racing before?

I used to live in the midlands, so just fun XC stuff, not at a high level.
I did a few of the numbplumz FNSS and they were ace...

Been triathloning for a while, and recently doing long course, and want the fun back. Had enough of being on the road and nearly being killed everyday so track racing looks fun and back to Mtbing fun away from cars.
Fitness now dramatically improved so hoping to have a bit more of a blast, though probably a bit too much slow twitch in the old pins....

Oh and BTW I meant descent, even though they are decent. cough ahem....
🙂
