Anyone know what happens if you ride Zwift without a subscription?

I haven't restarted my sub for the winter yet, but did a group ride on it the other day using this month's free 25km. Got to the end of that and kept riding and did another 5km or so. For that 5km all I noticed was that my drops/sweat/whatever count stopped going up, everything else worked (apart, possibly, from the ability to chat, I posted something but it didn't seem to appear).

Anyone know what you can/can't do without an active subscription?

I thought it just stopped working. Maybe it doesn't record the distance?

It will stop after time/km. See what happens when you log back in.

if it's a group ride over 25 km, it'll let you finish that ride. But stops working after that/next time.

You get (at least) 25km free each month. As you saw, you can extend that 25km but you can't start another ride once you've reached the 25km.

I guess you could just carry on doing the same ride on an infinite basis, or at least for a month, at which point I think the 25km free trial re-sets. You'd need to leave Zwift running and you'd be at the mercy of internet outages and power-cuts, obviously. And then you'd die of boredom...

It starts to break down the Zwift matrix and pixels start getting removed from your screen... eventually you are pedalling to a black screen questioning whether you should go outside and do the real thing! 😉

Ah, gotcha.

You know where I live, so I think you mean certainty, not mercy. Indeed this is posted from our office in Manchester as the 'broadband' at home, which is more information farm track than superhighway at most times, isn't working. Again.

So if I just want to do a couple of workouts and not sign up yet I can eeek it out by setting my weight to 100Kg and choosing a route with a big hill.

Yep - it goes by distance, not time.

As above, plus:  if you do manage to start another ride, the power doesn't register in the pen and your avatar just sits there.

Once 25Km is exceeded in free trial mode, drops stop and you don't acquire a new route badge. You still gain XP for each Km/mile you ride until you stop the session.

Ven Top route will make your 25Km last the longest, pretty much uphill from after the first couple of minutes.

If you had a sub earlier this year, but stopped it for a while, check your Zwift emails from the last few weeks for a free 30 day comeback code.
